IP Awareness Seminar

Business & Patent Information staff attended the UK Intellectual Property Office (http://www.ipo.gov.uk/) IP Awaresss Seminar on 22nd May 2007. Where intellectual property rights covering patents, trade marks, designs and copyright were discussed on how they affect and benefit a business. The Chartered Inststute of Patent Attorneys (http://www.cipa.org.uk/) and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (http://www.itma.org.uk/) attended along with a case study from a business entrepreneur sharing their first hand knowledge and experience of how protecting and managing their intellectual assets has been the key to their business success.

We also found about UK-IPO educational resource for key stage two students
Cracking Ideas, launched on 4 June, is a project aimed at Key Stage Two students (aged between 9 and 11) to encourage innovation and creativity in children.
The dedicated website - http://www.crackingideas.com/- contains work schemes and lesson plans for use by teachers, activities for children, and a nationwide competition running from 4 June to 18 July for Year 5 students.
